UMW Women's Swimming Gains Lead at CAC Championships

The University of Mary Washington women's swim team assumed the lead on Saturday at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in St. Mary's City, Md. The Eagles have 556 points, 38 points clear of second place York.

The Eagles started with a win from the 200 medley relay of Carley Vaughn, Mary Zagrobelny, Megan Murphy, and Grace Gartman, who finished with a time of 1:47.95. Julia Geskey then took first place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.65, and Callie Dunham finished fourth and Hailee Morse fifth.

Murphy finished first in the 100 yard butterfly at 56.82, and Erin Whitesell took second, with Kait Luncher finished fourth. Gartman took fourth in the 200 freestyle, and Zagrobelny finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Maddy Rymer was second in the 100 backstroke at 59.40, with Taylor Mooney finishing third and Kaylie Benson fourth.
