UMW Women's Swimmers Claim 27th Consecutive Capital Athletic Conference Championship

The University of Mary Washington women's swim team captured the 2017 Capital Athletic Conference Championship, their 27th straight title, on Sunday at St. Mary's College of Md.

On Sunday night, Megan Murphy opened by placing second in the 1650 freestyle, at 17:51.53. Senior Anna Corley won the 100 IM at 58.15, and Maddy Rymer took first in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:05.15, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3-4-7-8. Freshman Julia Geskey was second, Taylor Mooney third, and Kaylie Benson fourth.

Senior Shannon Coryell took second in the 100 yard freestyle at 53.42, while Lauren Wood took fourth and Kait Luncher fifth. Sara Dye took third in the 2:30.26, while McKinzie Turner took sixth and Morgan Miller eighth.

Freshman Carley Vaughn took first in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:08.45, while Megan Murphy finished second and Hailee Morse third. The 400 free relay of Geskey, Wood, Coryell, and Corley finished first at 3:31.77.

Geskey was named as the CAC Rookie of the Year.
