The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team started pursuit of its 25th straight Capital Athletic Conference Championship with a dominating start to the championship on Friday at St. Mary's College.

The Eagles started the finals by breaking the school and conference record in the 200 yard freestyle relay and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships, as Katie Fago, Shannon Coryell, Hannah Hagy, and Stephanie Hallock finished with a time of 1:35.38, a new CAC record by nine tenths of a second.

The Eagles then dominated the 500 freestyle, with five of the top eight finishers, including first place finisher Abby Cox at 5:09.75, Maddie Carinci in fourth, and Kris Currie in fifth. The Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the 200 IM, led by Anna Corley in first with an NCAA provisional time of 2:06.92, Robin Brazier in second, and Megan Murphy in third.

Hallock finished first in the 50 freestyle at 23.75, a new championship record and NCAA B cut, with Coryell taking third and Fago taking fourth.

The 400 medley relay of Fago, Hagy, Coryell, and Hallock broke the CAC and meet record with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:52.43, five hundredths of a second faster than they were in 2013.
