Eagles End Gettysburg Invitational in Second Place

Gettysburg, Pa.-- The UMW women's swim team finished in second place in the Gettysburg Invitational. The Eagles were behind Johns Hopkins, but ahead of host Gettysburg and Dickinson. 

The first session saw sophomore Abby Cox win the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.68. The Eagle team of Anna Corley, Hannah Hagy, Amber Kerico and Tara Banks earned third place in the opening 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:50.23. Hagy also earned a third place finish in the 100 Fly (58.80) and the 100 Breast (1:09.21). Jessica Singer and Banks finished second and third in the 200 Free with times of 1:56.61 and 1:56.79 respectively. The team of Cox, Banks, Singer and Ashley Walnut finished the 800 Free Relay in second place (7:55.14). 

The final session was started by Singer and her win in the 500 Free at 5:05.29. Kristen Callahan and Cox followed that up with a two-three finish in the next event, the 200 IM. Callahan crossed at 2:13.01, just edging Cox at 2:13.08. 

Up next for the Eagles is CAC foe Salisbury on January 11th. The Eagles host the Sea Gulls, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
