UMW Women's Soccer Falls at #1 Christopher Newport, 1-0, on Rainy Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at top-ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Va. The Eagles slip to 6-6-1 on the season.

The UMW defense stood strong throughout, facing 17 shots, and allowing just one score, after keeping the games scoreless for 61 minutes. CNU led in shots, 17-5, as well as corner kicks, 6-2.

Eagle goalkeeper Sydney Alexander made three saves in leading the defense's day.

UMW will be back in action next Saturday, as the Eagles host C2C foe Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m.
