The Mary Washington women's soccer team (5-5-1) fell to No. 2 Christopher Newport in Fredericksburg, Va. on Saturday night, 5-0.

The Eagles fell down into a hole early that they couldn't climb out of after CNU scored in the 11th minute. The Captains would add two more goals in the first half and another pair in the second half.

But after CNU's final goal in the 60th minute, the Eagles' defense held strong, making it tough for CNU to find the back of the net for the final 30 minutes.

Morgan Hicok recorded a season-high eight saves on 19 total shots. Jazzy Imanverdi launched UMW's lone shot of the night, which had to be saved by CNU's keeper.

Mary Washington is back in action on Wednesday night against St. Mary's (Md.). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on the Battleground's turf field.
