First Half Outburst Lifts UMW Women's Soccer Past NC Wesleyan, 6-0

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team erupted for five first half goals en route to a 6-0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

Freshman Maci Landel opened the scoring for the Eagles at 15:50, on a Reagan Boyer assist, and fellow first year Parker McCausland added another at 18:35. Landel added her second of the day at 20:54. as the Eagle offense continued to produce goals.

Junior Jazzy Imanverdi followed with a pair of scores, a 25:51 on an Eva McCrehin assist, and again at 33:06, on a Naomi Knight pass. The Eagles led, 5-0, at intermission.

In the second half, UMW scored on a tally from senior Savannah Alexander at 71:26, with the only score of the half.

The Eagles led in shots, 30-0, as well as corner kicks, 9-0. Freshman Sydney Alexander and sophomore Adriana Thompson split time in goal in gaining the shutout.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday with a 4:00 pm kickoff at Mount Aloysius College.
