UMW Women's Soccer Edged by #3 Christopher Newport in C2C Championship

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team put forth an outstanding effort, but fell at third-ranked Christopher Newport University, 1-0, on Sunday morning in the 2022 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship. The Eagles slip to 12-5-4 on the season.

The first half saw very little offense from either side, as UMW held a 2-1 edge in shots after 45 minutes. The second half was much of the same, until the Captains scored what would prove to be the game's only goal in the 69th minute. Both defenses held serve throughout the rest of regulation.

Mary Washington led in shots, 13-12, while CNU held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. UMW senior goalkeeper Ally Holden made eight saves in a brilliant showing between the pipes.
