UMW Women's Soccer Draws 2-2 Tie at Salisbury on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Salisbury University on Saturday in Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference action. UMW moves to 8-2-4 on the season.

Salisbury struck quickly in the first half, grabbing the lead in the second minute, and the score remained 1-0 through the rest of the first half. In the second, the Eagles used a score from freshman Kaitlyn Venzen in the 51st minute, with a Hope Grzebien assist, to knot the score at 1-1.

UMW gained the lead at 2-1 in the 70th minute, as Savannah Alexander scored on an Ellen Shine assist, but the Sea Gulls tied the score eight minutes later, and the game remained tied to the final horn.

Salisbury led in shots, 9-8, and corner kicks, 6-2. UMW goalkeeper Ally Holden made one stop between the pipes for the Eagles.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday when the Eagles visit Christopher Newport University at 7:00 p.m.
