UMW Women's Soccer Tops St. Mary's, 2-0; Unbeaten Streak at 11

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team scored two goals in the opening two minutes of the second half en route to a 2-0 victory at St. Mary's College of MD on Wednesday night. The Eagles improve to 8-2-3 on the season, and run their unbeaten streak to 11 straight games.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles struck quickly to open the second. Freshman Kaitlyn Venzen opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the second half, and then, just 59 seconds later, senior Amanda Krest scored on a Mikaela O'Fallon assist. That outburst would be the only scoring of the contest.

Mary Washington led in shots, 16-2, while St. Mary's led in corner kicks, 4-2. UMW senior goalkeeper Ally Holden had one save in registering the shutout, her sixth of the season.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m. in Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference action.
