Senior forward Amanda Krest scored the game's only goal in the 72nd minute to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Bridgewater College on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 5-2-2 on the season.
In a contest that saw strong possession in the midfield and not many chances on frame, neither team scored in the first half. then, at 71:29, Krest took a pass from freshman Kaitlyn Venzen and provided the game winner.
Bridgewater led in shots, 5-3, as well as corner kicks, 6-4. UMW senior goalie Ally Holden made four saves in posting the shutout.
Mary Washington will return to action on Saturday when the Eagles visit Washington and Lee University at 4:00 p.m.
