Eagles Slide Past Hood College, 1-0, Goal by Venzen

On a windy Monday afternoon, the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team slid past Hood College 1-0 in their 8th match up all-time. The Eagles now move to 4-2-2 on the season.

Both sides played well through the first half giving the fans hope for a more action-packed second half. Star freshman forward Kaitlyn Venzen found the back of the net not even a minute into the second half at 45:34. Senior Hope Grzebien gave Venzen her chance, now adding another assist to her season total.

The Blazers of Hood College played well in its entirety, but could not notch a goal in 90 minutes of play, despite great offensive and defensive efforts. The Eagles took chances on goal 14 times in the game, holding the Blazers to just 2 shots. UMW Senior Mikaela O'Fallon was caught with the lone yellow card at 79:25. Both sides had 2 corner kicks, while Senior goalkeeper Ally Holden made one save on the night, which secured the victory for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday when they host Bridgewater University at 4:00 p.m.
