UMW Women's Soccer Ties Va. Wesleyan, 1-1, on Saturday

UMW freshman Kaitlyn Venzen (Fredericksburg, Va. / Massaponax) scored early on an Amanda Krest (Ashburn, Va./Ridge) assist in a 1-1 tie against Virginia Wesleyan University at the Battleground Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles move their record to 3-2-1 on the season.

The Marlins evened the score at 57:32, but both teams played solid defense throughout the rest of the match to mark the second straight season that the teams have notched a draw.

UMW led in shots, 11-10, and in corner kicks, 5-4. UMW goalkeeper Alley Holden had six saves in 90:00 of play.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday at 4:00 pm at home against the University of Lynchburg.
