UMW Women's Soccer Claims 2019 CAC Championship, 4-0, Over York

Freshman Michaela O'Fallon scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over York College of PA in the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference championship on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground. With the win, the Eagles (11-10) claim the conference crown for a league-high 14th time, and advance to the NCAA Tournament next weekend.

The Eagles struck twice early, with a pair of goals in the first seven minutes. O'Fallon started the scoring by finishing a fine cross from sophomore Abby Zimmerman, on the first of her two assists on the day, at 3:53. Senior Brielle Mitchell upped the lead to 2-0 at 6:19 on a cross from O'Fallon.

In the second half, the Eagles again scored a pair in quick succession to put the contest away. O'Fallon scored at 57:16 on a long pass from junior Brooke Bauman, and freshman Macey Wissell added another just 36 seconds later on a Zimmerman cross.

The Eagles led in shots, 10-5, and in corner kicks, 3-1. UMW goalie Allison Nork made a pair of saves in gaining the shutout win.

UMW will advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009, and claims its league-high 14th league title. The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on Monday at 1 p.m. at www.ncaa.com.

Mitchell was named MVP of the CAC Tournament. Bauman, Nork, and O'Fallon were named to the CAC All-Tournament Team.
