UMW Women’s Soccer Drops Match to #3 CNU, 3-0, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped their match to third-ranked Christopher Newport University, 3-0, on Saturday evening in Newport News, VA. The Eagles fall to 4-7 overall, and 1-2 in the CAC.

The first half was all CNU as they jumped on top and looked to score from the beginning of the match. UMW's defense stayed tough for the first 32 minutes to keep the game knotted at 0-0. The Captains got on the board in the 32nd minute on a header. CNU added another goal just five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, the Eagles had two shots in the first six minutes but one was blocked and one went wide. Corinne Carson recorded the Eagles' first shot on goal in the 69th minute, but was saved by CNU. The Captains added a third goal with 11 minutes to play to seal the game. UMW added three shots at the end of the game, but were unable to put one in the back of the net. Allison Nork made 12 saves in goal for the Eagles. 

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Southern Virginia for a game at 5 p.m.
