UMW Women’s Soccer Falls to Gettysburg, 3-0, on Friday Evening

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team fell to Gettysburg College, 3-0, in their season opener on Friday evening in Gettysburg, PA. 

In the early going, the Eagles tried to get on the board as they attacked and obtained two corner kicks in the first fifteen minutes. On then second corner kick, the Eagles threatened as Gracie Williams got a shot on goal but it was saved. 

Freshman Amanda Krest had a shot that was saved in the 31st minute. The Bullets got on the board in the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. Gettysburg maintained that lead to the half. 

Four minutes into the second half, Margot Brown had a shot that was saved. The Bullets added to their lead in the 57th minute. Gettysburg added a third and final goal in the 75th minute on a penalty kick.

Allison Nork made two saves in goal for the Eagles. The Bullets outshot the Eagles 7-6 and won the corner kick battle 4-2.

UMW will be back in action on Sunday as they will travel to Ferrum for a game at 5 p.m.
