UMW Women's Soccer Picked Second in CAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Three-time defending champion Christopher Newport was tabbed as the unanimous favorite to four-peat in the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Captains, who captured their third-straight CAC Tournament Championship last fall, received five first-place votes and 25 points to earn the top position in voting. 

Mary Washington claimed second place with 20 points and one first-place vote, followed closely by Salisbury (17 points) in third. 

York (12 points) edged St. Mary's (11 points) for fourth place, with Southern Virginia (5 points) rounding out the team rankings. 

The 2019 season begins on Friday, Aug. 30 with all six CAC squads in action on opening day. CAC competition begins Sept. 28 and runs through October, with the CAC Championship game slated for Saturday, Nov. 9.
