Mitchell's Early Score Lifts UMW Women's Soccer Past Randolph-Macon, 1-0, on Wednesday Night

Freshman Brielle Mitchell scored her third goal of the season just 5:02 into play, as the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team defeated Randolph-Macon College, 1-0, on Wednesday night under the lights at the Campus Recreation Field. The Eagles improve to 3-2-1 on the season.

The Eagles scored by building up the left side, and a cross attempt came through traffic and caromed to Mitchell, who closed from the right with a well placed shot from the top of the penalty area.

From there, neither team would find the nets, as the teams were limited to eight shots apiece for the contest. Eagle netminder Madeline Duvall had four saves, while Lindsay Zachman had five stops for the Yellow Jackets.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Goucher College in a 1 p.m. tilt at the Battleground.
