Catholic Tops Mary Washington, 4-1, on Tuesday in Women's Soccer Action

The Catholic University women's soccer team scored twice in each half en route to a 4-1 victory over the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 5-4 on the season.

The Cardinals wasted little time in taking the lead, as Jennifer Delasco scored on a Kirsten Wosleger assist 34 seconds into the match. CUA extended the lead to 2-0 at 35:23, when Jillian Sudo scored on an Eva Brown assist. The Cardinals led, 2-0, at halftime.

The Eagles scored 10 minutes into the second half to cut the deficit to 2-1, as freshman Marisa Madaras found the nets unassisted from the right side. Catholic would answer at 62:12 on a goal from Lindsay Aleman, who would score again less than a minute later to cap the scoring.

Catholic led in shots, 12-7, and the Eagles led in corner kicks, 4-2. Haley Randall had four saves and Sara Armor one in goal for Mary Washington, while Lexi Halperin had one stop for CUA.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they open Capital Athletic Conference play at Wesley College at 7 p.m.
