UMW Women's Soccer Ties Eastern Mennonite, 0-0


The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout to start the season, but could only come away with a tie in a scoreless affair at Eastern mennonite University on Saturday. The Eagles stand at 1-0-1 on the year.

After an even first half in which both teams took five shots, the Eagles turned up the pressure by outshooting the hosts, 10-4, in the second. UMW had six shots in the extra frames, but could not find the nets in the scoreless draw.

In all the Eagles led in shots, 21-9, and had seven corner kicks to two for EMU. Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) had five saves for the Eagles, and EMU's Abby Diffenbach made 10 saves.

Mary Washington will host Rowan University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
