UMW Women's Soccer Ties Susquehanna in UMW Classic


The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team tied Susquehanna University, 2-2, on Sunday at the Battleground. UMW moves to 3-1-1 on the season.

The Eagles opened the scoring at 20:39 on a goal by Sunny Herold, who had just entered the game. Susquehanna tied the score at one on a goal by Alison Chavers on a pass from Lindsay Robbins at 21:32.

Mary Washington regained the lead at 2-1 at 27:13 on an unassisted score by Sarah Tryon, but Susquehanna tied the score at two at 53:44 by Abby Montgomery.

The Eagles outshot the Crusaders, 34-7, and had five corner kicks to three for SU. UMW goalkeeper Tina Brehm had three saves, while Alyssa Kemmerer had 14 saves for the Crusaders.

Mary Washington will next play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Christopher Newport University.
