1995 Mary Washington College Women's Soccer Season in Review

Overcoming a slow start, the Mary Washington College women's soccer team finished with a flourish, going unbeaten in its last 10 matches. MWC (11-4-1 overall) outscored opponents, 30-2 over that stretch, and finished the season allowing just 0.60 goals/match. The Eagles - who faced six nationally ranked teams from Division II, III and NAIA- concluded their season with an impressive 3-0 win over Salisbury State in the CAC final.

Several performances keyed MWC's success. Graduating senior Stefanie Teter (Burke, VA) was named CAC Player of the Year for the third straight time after a 10-goal, six-assist campaign. Midfielder/forward Robin Kozic (Navesink, NJ) added five goals and a team-high seven assists to earn Second Team All-CAC honors. Another rising senior, Kim Hrabosky (Fredericksburg, VA, five goals) joined Teter on the All-CAC and Al-Region First Team midfield. Second Team All-CAC goalkeeper Jen Koster (Scotch Plains, NJ), a rising junior, tied a school mark with 10 shutouts, and had a .905 save percentage.

According to Glaeser, these individuals were able to overcome early adversity and blend into a cohesive team. "This group played as close to its full potential, especially in the CAC final, as any I've had here," said Glaeser. "We played as a unit, with each player understanding her role. Success came from hard work, and we demonstrated a dynamic level of play at times."

The loss of Teter, All-CAC fullback Victoria Rheinstrom (Annandale, VA) and All-CAC forward Alissa Magrum (Fairfax, VA) will present some challenges. Several talented defenders do return from the CAC's stingiest defense (0.60 goals/match). Juniors Felicity Smith (Dover, MA) and Adrien Snedeker (Lawrenceville, NJ) join All-CAC fullback Michele Beagan (Sr./Sandwich, MA) in front of Koster. Stephanie Whichard (So./ Chester, VA) also returns. Beagan may play in the midfield in '96, joining junior Anne Wenthe (Jr./Glen Rock, NJ) and sophs Whitney Ziskal (Jupiter, FL) and Danielle Whichard (Chester, VA).

Junior Jaime Kwiatkowski (Spotsylvania, VA), an exceptionally smart player, returns at forward after a seven goal, two-assist season. Kristen Mercer (So./ Alexandria, VA; four goals in '95) also returns, along with Erica Salmin (So./ Northport, NY) and Liz Siciliano (Jr./E. Setauket, NY).
