Megan Williamson joined UMW’s women’s lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in fall of 2021.

Megan attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 2013-2018, where she played two years of club lacrosse and three years at the Division I level. She was president of the club lacrosse team, as well as a captain for the inaugural season in 2016.

Prior to UMW, Megan coached as an assistant for girls varsity lacrosse team at the Steward School in Richmond, VA in 2018 & 2019, helping coach them to the state tournament in 2019. She was the assistant coach for Atlee High School’s varsity team in 2020 & 2021, helping coach them to the regional finals in ’21.

Megan received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2017 and her Master of Science in criminal justice in 2021.

“Megan’s energy and commitment to teaching the game at a high level were evident throughout the search process", said UMW head coach Maddie Taghon. "Her high-level playing experience, and four years of high-level girl’s lacrosse coaching demonstrated the ability to mentor our student athletes excellently and was what drew us to this candidate as well. Megan is a great fit for Mary Washington and its athletic department. She made it clear in her interview process that she values differences in others and an inclusive environment, that is a core concept of our university, athletic department, and the women’s lacrosse team.”
