Sophomore Paige Haskins tied a career-high five goals to lead the tenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team past CNU, 14-10, on Wednesday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. The Eagles improve to 12-2 overall, and 5-1 in the CAC. Junior Paige Childers had a career-high 11 draw controls on the day. 

Haskins got the scoring started for the Eagles as she scored on a free position shot six minutes into the game and they took a 1-0 lead. CNU got on the board just 49 seconds later and tied the game at 1-1. UMW scored two goals in a row to take a two goal lead, 3-1. 

Mackenzie Maguire scored on a man-up attempt with 16:07 to play and then Holly Hudson scored on a free position shot with 13:33 left. CNU got within one, 3-2 as they scored with 9:28 remaining. 

Hudson scored her second goal of the day on a free position shot and then CNU answered with a goal to make it 4-3 with 5:13 to play. Haskins added her second goal of the day on a Hudson assist with just 28 seconds left in the first half and the Eagles would take a 5-3 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Haskins tallied her third goal of the day on a free position shot with 28:28 to play. CNU came right back with a free position shot of their own and made the score 6-4 with 23:16 to play. Hope Lockwood got in the scoring column on an assist from Hudson with 22:43 left to put the Eagles up three, 7-4.

From there, CNU scored three straight to tie the game at 7 a piece with 14:16 left in the game. Lockwood scored again but this time on an Allison Davis assist and put UMW up 1, 8-7. CNU scored two straight goals to take the lead 9-8.

UMW responded to that situation in a big way as they scored six straight goals to take the lead 14-9. Savannah Boyd started the rally with a free position shot goal and then Julia Albert scored on a Maguire assist with 7:38 left.

Haskins scored on another free position shot and then Davis scored 25 seconds later to put the Eagles up 12-9 with 4:40 to play. Haskins added her fifth goal on the day on an assist from Maguire and Lockwood capped the scoring for the Eagles on a free position shot with 2:23 to play. CNU scored a goal with just 1:14 to play but that was all they got as the Eagles won 14-10.

Kirsten Little field had five draw controls, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers, while Hanna Ashby recorded seven saves for the Eagles.

UMW will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to #1 Salisbury at 1 p.m.
