UMW's Jenna Petrucelli Named VaSID State College Division Player of the Year

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior attack Jenna Petrucelli from the University of Mary Washington earned Player of the Year honors Wednesday with the release of the Virginia All-State College Division Women’s Lacrosse Team. Christopher Newport University’s Meaghan Galvin was named the Rookie of the Year and Brooke O’Brien from Washington & Lee University received the Coach of the Year Award.

Petrucelli, a Cranbury, NJ native, was a 2014 first team All-American. She was also named first team all-region and first team all-conference this off-season, as well as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Year. She broke school season record with 85 draw controls and led CAC with 74 goals (sixth in nation).

Galvin, a midfielder, garnered first-team All-Region and CAC accolades. Honored as the CAC Rookie of the Year, the Arlington native ranked sixth in the league with 61 points and seventh with 42 goals. She also led the team and finished third in the conference with 66 draw controls.

O'Brien led the Generals to their 15th Old Dominion Athletic Conference title and its fifth straight. In the title game against Guilford, Brooke recorded her 100th win. The Generals were ranked in the Top 20 throughout the season, with its highest ranking being 10th. W&L advanced to the regional round of the NCAA Tournament, but fell to fourth-ranked TCNJ.

The first-team was dotted with representatives of the three programs, as CNU, W&L and UMW combined for eight of the 12 spots, and Roanoke College had two.
