Kimmelman, Torrey Lead #14 UMW Women's Lax to 21-3 Win Over Guilford

Senior Allie Kimmelman and junior Keller Torrey each scored eight points to lead the University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 21-3 victory over Guilford College on Sunday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 11-3 overall on the season.

The Eagles opened play with four goals in the first five minutes. Megan Gersbeck started the scoring with a free position shot at 28:03, and junior Jenna Petrucelli followed ten seconds later to up the lead to 2-0. Catherine Kennedy scored on an Allie Kimmelman assist with 25:46 to play, and Torrey scored on a Kennedy assist one minute later.

After a Guilford goal cut the deficit to 4-1, the Eagles scored the next 16 goals to put the game away. In addition to Torrey's three goals and five assists and Kimmelman's two scores and six assists, Catherine Kennedy, Lauren Callison, and Corinne Wiederkehr each scored three times for UMW.

The Eagles led in shots, 35-9, and had 19 ground balls to eight for the Quakers. UMW goalies Taylor Paige and Kathryn Stiltz each had one save in goal.

Mary Washington will host Christopher Newport University on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
