UMW's Kennedy Named CAC Women's Lax Player of the Year
University of Mary Washington junior attack Catherine Kennedy (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran), who led the conference in goals scored in each of the past three years, was named the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned her third-straight first-team berth on the All-CAC Women’s Lacrosse team. Kennedy, one of a CAC-best eight Eagles named to the 2011 All-CAC squad, is the second UMW player in the conference’s 17-year women’s lacrosse history to be selected by the coaches as the Player of the Year.

Also leading the 2011 All-CAC team is Frostburg State freshman midfielder Malory Brunett (Clarksville, Md./River Hill), the Rookie of the Year, and York’s fourth-year mentor Jen Dragoni, who was selected by her peers as the Coach of the Year for the first time in her career.

Kennedy was joined on the All-CAC first-team this year by classmate Jenny Atmar (Houston, Texas/Bellaire) and senior midfielder Erin Murphy (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan).
Second-team honorees for the Eagles, who tied for second place in the regular season standings and played in the CAC championship game for the third-straight year and fifth time in the last six years, were junior attackers Lauren Callison (Stevenson, Md./Kent Island) and Allie Kimmelman (Burke, Va./Robinson), sophomore attack Keller Torrey (Roswell, Ga./Centennial), senior midfielder Katie Wallis (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Creek) and sophomore defender Katie Mastropaolo (Ruckersville, Va./Albemarle).
