Mary Washington Women's Basketball Downs Salisbury, 62-42

The Mary Washington women's basketball team (13-7) had little trouble in its season sweep over Salisbury on Saturday afternoon in a 62-42 victory over the Sea Gulls in Salisbury, Md.

The Eagles, who previously beat Salisbury in January, used double-digit points from four scorers to blow by the Sea Gulls once more. Jordan Carpenter (12 points), Sydney Sherman (12), Ashley Martin (10), and Addie Riner (10) -- season-high -- led the Eagles with 44 points on the afternoon.

As a team the Eagles shot 23-of-63 (36.5%) for the day, which included out-rebounding the Sea Gulls by six, 45-39.

On defense, the Eagles held Salisbury to just a 11-of-46 mark on the day (23.9%) and a 5-of-21 mark from deep (23.8%). Also, UMW forced 28 Salisbury turnovers in the victory.

Mary Washington is back in action on Wednesday with a matchup against No. 4 Christopher Newport. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
