
Senior Jordan Carpenter has been named the Coast-to-Coast Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season, per a release from the conference on Monday morning.
Carpenter became the 21st player in Mary Washington's women's basketball to join the 1,000-point club on Saturday afternoon with a career-high 31 points in a comeback victory over Gallaudet. The Eagles, who trailed by three points entering the fourth quarter, relied on Carpenter's 21-point outburst in the final period to propel them over the Bison, 67-53. Carpenter was 15-of-20 from the field before adding a free throw on an and-one attempt. She recorded her 13th double-double of the season as she grabbed 11 rebounds along with three steals and a pair of assists.
On Wednesday in a 71-47 victory of Salisbury, Carpenter posted a team-high 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting, a week-high 12 rebounds, three steals and a block. On Monday, the Eagles played Norfolk State (Div. I) on the road, where the Chesterfield, Va. native held her own with five points, eight boards, a steal and an assist. For the week, Carpenter averaged 19 points on a 61.1% clip from the floor with 10.3 rebounds, an assist and 2.3 steals per game.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday with a matchup with Christopher Newport in Newport News, Va. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
