UMW Women's Basketballs Falls to No. 24 Washington & Lee

The Mary Washington women's basketball team fell to No. 24 Washington & Lee on Saturday afternoon, 85-74, on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va.

The Eagles recieved a high-scoring effort from Sydney Sherman (23 points), Ashley Martin (17) and Megan Baxter (15), but couldn't pull within the Generals' efforts.

The two teams were tied at 18 at the end of the first quarter before Washington & Lee pulled ahead by three points at halftime. From there, the Generals outscored the Eagles by five in the third quarter and then three in the final period.

On offense, the Eagles made 27 of their 75 buckets (36%), while Washington & Lee shot (41.1%) on its 56 attempts. From deep, Mary Washington made four of its 10 attempts, while the Generals were 11-for-27 from deep (47.8%).

Mary Washington is back in action on Monday night at Stevenson at 4 p.m.
