Carpenter Records 10th Double-Double as Mary Washington Women's Basketball Falls to Haverford

Senior wing Jordan Carpenter recorded her 10th double-double of the 2023-24 season with a 19-point, 11-rebound performance as the Mary Washington women's basketball (8-4) fell to Haverford on Saturday afternoon in Puerto Rico, 56-54.

Carpenter finished the afternoon with an 8-for-13 clip from the floor (61.5%) and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Guard Ashley Martin also reached double figures in scoring for the Eagles with 10 points, while guard Jenna Steadman added seven points off the bench.

The Eagles fell behind by three points at the end of the first quarter, 17-14 before outscoring Haverford by a point in the second period. UMW, though, stilll faced a two-point deficit heading into the half, 36-34. Mary Washington was then outscored by a point in the third quarter as it entered the fourth quarter down by three, 47-44.

UMW outscored Haverford by a point in the fourth and had a chance to tie the game with 13 seconds left, but couldn't get a shot off on the last possession.

For the afternoon, the Eagles' defense held Haverford to a 15-of-54 (27.8%) mark for the game and allowed it to make just four of its 20 3-point attempts (20%).

Mary Washington, meanwhile, shot 22-of-72 overall (30.6%), but was outrebouded by nine, 44-35. The Eagles forced 15 turnovers and only gave the basketball away six times.
