Sophomore guard Kandall Parker scored 20 points to lead the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to an 80-48 victory over Mederith University on Saturday at the Ron Rosner Arena at the Anderson Center. Junior Brianne Comden had 11 points and freshman Megan Comer added 10 for the 3-0 Eagles.

For the second straight day, UMW started fast and turned up the pressure from the outset. The Eagles scored the first 10 points of the game en route to a 17-7 lead after one quarter. Parker heated up immiately, scoring 11 points in the first quarter, including three three-pointers.

In the second, Meredith made a brief run to cut the deficit to six, at 21-15, with 5:40 remaining, but UMW answered with seven straight points, including three points from freshman Jordan Pamlanye and four from Comden. UMW closed the half with nine straight points to lead, 40-22, at halftime.

The Eagles led by as many as 21 points in the third, before the Avenging Angels cut the score to 58-44 through three quarters. In much the same fashion as the first, the Eagles dominated on both ends in the fourth quarter, outscoring the visitors 22-4.
