UMW Outdoor Track Opens at W&L Carnival

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened the 2024 season this weekend at the Washington & Lee University Carnival in Lexington, Va.

On Friday, the Eagles' top result was turned in by Luke Blair, who finished in second place in the 1500 meters, with a time of 4:02.72. Aidan Smagh finished fifth in the long jump, at 6.49 meters, while Samuel Gowe took seventh, at 6.45 meters. Allison Richards, meanwhile, finished third in the 200 meter dash with a final time of 26.61 seconds.

On Saturday, Ethan Young finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles, at 15.71, and Reese Creadon finished seventh at 15.98. Blair took fifth in the 800 meters, with a time of 157.65. Young then finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles, at 1:00.03.

The Eagles will return to action on March 23 at the Doc Jopson Invitational at Bridgewater College.
