UMW Indoor Track and Field Opens at JDL Early Bird Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the JDL Early Bird Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Saturday and Sunday.

On the women's side, freshman Erin Lightner finished 25th in qualifying for the 60 meters, at 8.54. Grace Pippin took 11tth in the 3000 meters, at 11:19.44, and Lightner and Jorney Mason each competed in the 200 meters, with Mason finishing at 28.88, and Lightner at 29.08. Mason finished 26th in the long jump, at 4.73 meters.

For the men, Aidan Girard finished fourth in the 800 meters, at 2:01.96, and Ethan Young was 10th in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.81. Samuel Gowe was 22nd in the long jump, at 6.22 meters, and Dylan Wright was 28th in the 3000 meters at 9:48.62. 

The teams will return to action after holiday break.
