UMW Indoor Track & Field Competes at VMI Winter Classic

The University of Mary Washington indoor track and field teams competed at the VMI Winter Classic in Lexington, Va., on Friday and Saturday. The Eagles turned in several outstanding performances against primarily Division I competition.

For the women, Sophia Redmond finished 20th in the 400 meters, with a time of 1:01.65. Haileigh Byrd was 20th in the triple jump, with a leap of 10.07 meters, and Amanda Morrisey finished 27th in the 800 meters, at 2:29.83.

The men saw Rajai Walton take 10th in the triple jump at 13.63 meters, and Aidan Smagh finish 13th in the high jump at 1.80 meters. Jacob Lohr was 17th in the 3,000 meters at 8:55.56, and Patrick Murphy was 19th, at 8:58.91. Jacinto Jones II was 12th in the 200 meters at 22.12, Luke Blair was 24th in the mile, at 4:34.91.

Both teams will return to action on Friday and Saturday at Liberty University.
