UMW Indoor Track & Field Competes at Va. Wesleyan Marlin Invite

The University of Mary Washington Indoor Track and Field Teams competed at the Virginia Wesleyan University Marlin Invitational this weekend, with several top results for both the men and women.

The competition started on Friday, and the Eagle women saw Maddie Phillips finish first in the pole vault at eight feet, 11.5 inches, with Hana Bussell taking second at seven feet, 11.5 inches. Faith Jones finished fourth in the weight throw, at 28 feet, 4.5 inches, and Sophia Redmond took seventh in the 200 meters, at 26.59 seconds.

On the men's side, Rajai Walton finished first in the high jump at six feet, 5.5 inches, Ethan Young was fourth in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.79 seconds, and Jacinto Jones was fourth in the 200 meters, at 22.17 seconds. Luke Blair was fourth in the mile at 4:34.35, while Nicholas Onorato was fifth at 4:39.17. Aidan Smagh was fifth in the high jump, at  five feet 11.5 inches.

On Saturday, the Eagle men finished with a flourish, as Onorato finished second in the 3000 meters at 9:22.32, and Dylan Wright took third at 9:31.61. Walton finished second in the long jump, and Aidan Kimener was sixth at 2:02.00 and Luke Blair was eighth in the 800 meters at 2:03.12, Jacinto Jones was ninth in the 400 meters at 52.12, and Jacob Lohr finished fifth in the mile, at 4:32.76. 

Ethan Young was seventh in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.69, and Reese Creadon was eighth at 9.09. 

Both teams will be back in action next weekend at VMI.
