UMW Indoor Track & Field Competes at CNU Holiday Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Opener on Saturday, with several top results.

For the men, senior Kevin Munson finished in first place in the pole vault, at 4.27 meters and freshman Jacinto Jones took first in the 200 meters at 22.95. Senior Patrick Murphy was second in the mile at 4:45.46, junior Ethan Young was third in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.93 while teammate Reese Creadon was fifth at 9.07.

Sophomore Aidan Smagh finished third in the 800 meters at 2:08.52, senior Rajai Walton was fourth in the long jump at 6.71 meters, and Smagh was fourth in the high jump at 1.77 meters. 

On the women's side, Maddie Phillips was third in the pole vault at 2.52 meters, while teammate Hana Bussell was fourth, also at 2.52 meters. Senior Haileigh Byrd was second in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.57 and third in the long jump at 4.99 meters, and Grace Pippin was fifth in the mile at 5:59.16. Amanda Heckman was fourth in the 400 meters at 1:06.12, and AManda Morrisey was second in the 800 meters at 2:41.36, ahead of teammates Enya Cea-Levin in fourth and Kendra White in fifth.  Freshman Sophia Redmond was fourth in the 200 meters at 26.84, and senior Teresa Guzman was fifth in the 3000 meters at 12:20.99.

The Eagles will return to action on January 21 at Virginia Wesleyan University.
