UMW Outdoor Track & Field Hosts Battleground Relays

The University of Mary Washington outdoor track and field teams hosted the annual Battleground Relays on Saturday.

The women saw Haileigh Byrd finish third in the 200 meters, at 26.68, while Grace Pippin tok second in the 5000 meters, at 19:20.72. Byrd was third in the 100 meter hurdles at 15.80, while Desmone Logan was fourth at 16.15. Jessica Oberlies was second in the 300 meter steeplechase at 13:01.52, and the 4x400 relay of Caroline Joyce, Camy Delean, Camila Perez Rondon, and Amanda Heckman took second at 4:22.75.

Hannah Unger was second in the high jump at 1.50 meters, while Byrd was second in the long jump, at 5.20 meters. Logan was second in the triple jump at 10.26 meters, and Faith Jones scored UMW's lone victory in the shot put at 9.53 meters. Abbie Bolinger was third in the discus at 29.69 meters, and Rachel Remer was second in the javelin at 32.72 meters.

For the men, Darius Reed was second in the 100 meters at 11.09, and Brandon Baumgartner took first in the 800 meters, at 1:59.80. Justin Libman was the top collegiate finisher in the 5000 meters at 15:43.03, while Matthew O'Cadiz finished second at 15:56.92. Patrick Brown finished first in the 10,000 meters, at 32:49.93 and Ethan Young was second in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.39 seconds. Nick Onorato was second in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:14.68.

Aidan Smagh won the high jump at 1.80 meters, Samuel Gowe won the long jump at 6.81 meters, and Rajai Walton was first in the triple jump, at 14.01 meters. Kevin Munson was third in the javelin throw.
