UMW Women Take 3rd, Men 4th at C2C Indoor Track & Field Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the 2022 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships, which concluded on Saturday in Newport News, Va. The Eagle women finished third and the men finished fourth overall. Senior Haileigh Byrd gained the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet.

On Saturday, the 60m hurdles finals occurred for both men and women, which led to outstanding performances. Ethan Young won the men's 60m hurdle finals with a time of 8.56. Byrd ran this event as well, finishing second with a time of 9.70. Byrd won the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.54m. Desmone Logan finished second in the triple jump at 10.34m. Darius Reed won the men's 60 meter dash with a time of 7.01. Aidan Smagh won the men's high jump, finishing at a height of 1.87m.

Kevin Munson placed third in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.25m. Byrd competed in the women's 200 meter dash as well, where she finished third with a time of 27.46. Valentina Leon-Ledezma placed fifth in the 200m dash with 28.38. Ian Chapman finished second in the men's 200m dash with 23.31. The women's 4x400m relay, which consisted of Joyce, Delean, Leon-Ledezma, and Amanda Heckman, completed an impressive finish of second place with 4:21.  

In the men's 400 meter dash, Eli Covert finished in fourth with a time of 52.27. Caroline Joyce sprinted the women's 400m dash, ending in fifth place with a time of 1:05. In the men's 1 mile run, Nick Onorato, Chester Pruitt, and Matthew O'Cadiz finished back to back, placing seventh through ninth. Onorato ran 4:33, while Pruitt and O'Cadiz finished with 4:34.

Kelly Young placed sixth in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:39. Camy Delean ran a time of 2:31 in the women's 800 meter run, landing her a sixth place finish. In the women's shot put, Abbie Bolinger placed fifth with a throw of 9.99m. Grace Pippin showed up in the 3000m run, securing a personal record of 10:48 with a seventh place finish.
