UMW Men's and Women's Indoor Track Teams Stand in Third After Day One at C2C Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams stand in third place after day one events at the 2022 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Friday in Newport News, VA.

On the men's side, in the 60 meter preliminaries, Darius Reed finished first at 7.07, and Ian Chapman finished fourth at 7.11. Patrick Brown finished third in the 5000 meters at 15:49.49, and Justin Libman took sixth at 15:51.76. Sophomore Ethan Young finished first in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles at 8.82.

The distance medley relay of Brandon Baumgartner, Jacob Lohr, Michael Dye, and Matthew O'Cadiz finished fourth, at 11:02.10. In the long jump, Samuel Gowe finished eighth at 20 feet, three inches, and Aidan Smagh took ninth at 20 feet, one inch.

On the women's side, Valentina Leon Ledezma finished fourth in the preliminaries of the 60 meter dash at 8.36 seconds. Grace Pippin finished third in the 5000 meters at 19:09.61, and Kelly Young finished fifth at 19:23.75. In the 60 meter hurdles preliminaries, Haileigh Byrd finished second with a time of 9.61, and Desmone Logan took sixth at 10.12.

The distance medley relay of Camy Delean, Amanda Heckman, Camila Perez Rondon, and Julia Kapp took fourth, at 13:34.88. Hannah Unger was third in the high jump at 4 feet, 11.5 inches, and Maddie Phillips took fourth and Hana Bussell fifth in the pole vault. Byrd finished second in the long jump at 16 feet, 7.75 inches, and Logan took fifth at 15 feet, 3.5 inches. Abbie Bolinger was fifth in the weight throw at 34 feet, 1.25 inches, and Faith Jones took sixth at 32 feet, 6.5 inches.
