UMW Competes at Roanoke Invitational

The University of Mary Washington indoor track & field teams raced a few athletes today at the Roanoke Invitational Challenge in Salem, VA. This is the last regular season meet before the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference indoor track & field championships take place on Saturday, February 19, 2022. 

On the Men's team, Ethan Young finished second with a time of 8.58 in the 60m hurdles preliminaries. This speedy finish entered Young into the 60m hurdle finals, however he did not compete. Matthew Rose placed eighth in the long jump with 5.88m. Eli Covert ran the 400m dash, resulting in a time of 53.57. Covert also competed in the 60m dash, finishing in a time of 7.47. 

For the Women's team, Hannah Unger finished seventh with a height of 4'9" in the high jump. Abbie Bolinger marked 8.93m in the shot put, and 9.82 in the weight throw. 

Both teams had a strong last meet before the Coast 2 Coast Championships next week, which is hosted by Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA.
