UMW Indoor Track & Field Takes on GMU Patriot Games

The University of Mary Washington indoor track & field teams competed at George Mason University today, with several Division I schools present. The teams ended with many great performances. 

On the track, the men's team watched Darius Reed win the 60m dash with a time of 7.10, surpassing many D1 runners. Wilson Jackson placed fifth with 53.33 in the 400m dash finals, Eli Covert ran 24.09 in the 200m dash placing thirteenth, and Nick Onorato came twenty-fifth with 2:04 in the 800m. Ethan Young placed ninth with a time of 8.72 in the 60m hurdles preliminaries, which resulted in being one spot away from the final heat. In the 1 mile, Patrick Brown, Justin Libman, and Matthew O'Cadiz finished back-to-back with times of 4:34 (Brown), 4:35 (Libman), and 4:36 (O'Cadiz). Libman later ran the 1000m, placing twenty-first with a time of 2:45.

For the Women's team, Valentina Leon-Ledezma ran the 200m dash in 28.41 placing eighteenth. Grace Pippin showed some outstanding performances, placing twenty-seventh with 5:39 in the 1 mile and twenty-third with 3:23 in the 1000m run. Camy Delean ran the 800m and placed eighteenth with a time of 2:35. Kelly Young performed in the 3000m run, earning twentieth with a time of 11:27.

The indoor track & field teams will compete next at the VWU Richard Drake Invitational on February 6, 2022.
