UMW Indoor Track & Field Competes at CNU Captains Classic

The University of Mary Washington indoor track & field teams competed against several other schools at Christopher Newport University today, resulting with outstanding performances. 

On the track, the Men's team watched Ethan Young score second at the 60m hurdles preliminaries and third in the finals, both at a time of 8.75. Patrick Brown won the men's 3000m with a time of 9:17 and Justin Libman came in third at 9:24. Darius Reed placed third in the 200m at 24.02 and Chester Pruit placed fifth in the 800m at 2:05. The distance medley relay of Brown, Libman, Nick Onorato, and Pruitt came in second with a time of 11:04. 

For the Women's team, Valentina Leon Ledezma placed third in the 200m at 28.85, Maddie Phillips second in pole vault at 2.48m, Amber Zipfel sixth in the 3000m at 12:28, and Kelly Young eighth in the 1 mile run at 5:47.

In the field, UMW gained Men's wins from Aidan Smagh in the high jump at 1.80 and Kevin Mason in the pole vault at 3.81m. Matthew Rose placed third in the Men's long jump at 5.95m. 

The indoor track & field teams will compete next in the GMU Patriot Games on January 28 and 29, 2022.
