The University of Mary Washington indoor track and field team competed at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Classic on Sunday, in their first competition indoors since February, 2020.

The Eagle men carried the highlights with a first place from freshman Aidan Smagh (Yorktown, Va.) in the high jump with a leap of six feet, two inches, and second place finishes from sophomore Ethan Young (Christiansburg, Va.) in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.66 seconds, and senior Darius Reed (Williamsburg, Va.) in the 60 meters, at 7.06 seconds. Reed also finished third in the 200 meters, at 23.31 seconds. 

On the women's side, sophomore Maddie Phillips (Culpeper, Va.) was third in the pole vault at eight feet, 0.5 inches, and senior Haileigh Byrd (Warrenton, Va.) finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.86 seconds. Senior Valentina Leon Ledesma (Lorton, Va.) finished fifth in the 60 meter dash at 8.34 seconds.
