The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened competition at the Coast 2 Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Friday in Salisbury, Md.

Grace Pippin finished second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40:47.40, while Jean Woodrum took third in the hammer throw at 39.23 meters. On the men's side, Tristan Johnson finished fourth in the hammer throw at 42.74 meters, and Blake Mason took fifth in the 10,000 meters at 35:15.08.

The bulk of the meet will be completed on Saturday.
