UMW Outdoor Track & Field Competes Against Shenandoah on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed against Shenandoah University on Saturday afternoon at the Battelground in the second home event of the year.

On the track, the women saw victories from Grace Pippin in the 1500 meters at 5:11.15, Makaila Keyes in the 200 meters at 26.61 and the 400 meters at 1:00.55, Camy Delean in the 800 meters at 2:26.51, and Desmone Logan in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:13.33. Helen Dhue won the 5000 meters at 20:31.81, and the 4x400 meters winning quartet was Amanda Morrissey, Olivia Story, Leah Saling, and Amanda Heckman, at 4:28.34. 

Jackie Smith won the javelin at 37.72 meters, Erin Gray won the pole vault at 2.74 meters, and Jean Woodrum won the shot put at 10.85 meters as well as the discus at 38.96 meters and the hammer throw at 40.42 meters. Josie Allamby won the high jump at 1.60 meters.

For the men, Brandon Baumgartner won the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:25.28, William Jackson won the 400 meters at 51.49, and Justin Libman won the 5000 meters at 16:22.41. The  4x400 meter relay of Matthew O'Cadiz, Chester Pruitt, Justin Libman, and Baumgartner finished first at 3:47.52.

Elijah Deem won the javelin at 41.21 meters, Austin Heath won the pole vault at 2.89 meters, Mason Woods won the shot put at 13.41 meters and the discus at 38.26 meters, and Reese Creadon won the high jump at 1.80 meters. 

Both teams will be back in action next Saturday at Christopher Newport University.
