UMW Track and Field Hosts UMW Opener on Saturday

 

The University of Mary Washington track and field team hosted the UMW opener on Saturday in Fredericksburg, VA.

Walton took home first in the long jump at 6.86m, placed second in the high jump at 1.98m, and ran a time of 11.44 in the 100m. Chris Hall placed second in the 400m with a time of 50.58 and ninth in the 200m. 

The team of Luke Miller, Rajai Walton, Bryce McAlpine, and D'Andre Chandler-Byrd took home fourth place in the 4x100m relay. 

Ripken Smith threw 13.49m in the shot put and 40.30m in the discus to place fourth in both events. Smith also threw a mark of 47.90m in the hammer throw to take second place. Tristan Johnson placed second in the discus at 41.76m. 

Rayna Smith won the high jump at 1.52m. Erin Andrewlevich brought home a second place finish in the 200m with a time 25.71. 

Jean Woodrum won the discus with a mark of 36.24m, beating the opponents by more than five meters. Woodrum also won the hammer throw at 39.66m and took third place in the shot put. 

Jackie Smith won the javelin with a throw of 34.84m. The Eagles brought home a 3, 4, 5 finish in the 800m with Emily Knerr, Teresa Guzman, and Leah Saling all placing. Camy Delean placed fourth in the 1500m with a time of 5:08.62. 

UMW took second place in the 4x100m relay as Angelique Cherikos, Andrewlevich, Brianna Lightfoot, and Valentina Leon-Ledezma ran a time of 51.53.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they will travel to Towson for the Goucher Invitational.
