UMW Indoor Track & Field Competes at Roanoke Last Chance Meet

The University of Mary Washington indoor track and field teams took several athletes to the Roanoke College Last Chance Meet in Salem, Va. on Saturday.

Junior David Danek finished first in the high jump with a leap of six feet, 6.75 inches, and sophomore Rajai Walton finished second at six feet, 2.75 inches. Walton was first in the triple jump at 45 feet, 0.25 inches, while Danek took second at 39 feet, five inches. Walton was second in the long jump at 21 feet, 11 inches.

Victoria Chanthayasak-White was second in the high jump at four feet, nine inches, and was also first in the triple jump at 30 feet, 4.75 inches and third in the 60 meter hurdles at 10.32 seconds. Senior Ripken Smith was first in the weight throw at 51 feet, 10 inches, and second in the shot put at 45 feet, 6.5 inches.

Danek will advance to the NCAA Indoor Track Championships next weekend in Boston, Mass.
