The University of Mary Washington men's indoor track and field team stands in first place, while the women rank fourth after day one results at the 2019 CAC Indoor Championships in Newport News, Va.
The men saw junior David Danek finish second in the high jump at six feet, 6.75 inches, while sophomore Rajai Walton took fourth at six feet, 4.25 inches, and Ben Onguene took fifth at 6-2. The men's distance medley relay took third at 10:42.66, and senior Ripken Smith finished second in the weight throw at 51 feet, 2.75 inches, and Walton took second in the long jump at 22 feet, one inch. Jeff Gibson placed third in the 5000 meters at 5:27.97.
The highlight for the women came from senior Jillian Weisbeck, who won the 5000 meters at 18:31.99. The women's distance medley relay took fourth at 13:39.98, and Quintasia Horsley took fifth in the long jump at 16 feet, 0.25 inches. Jean Woodrum was seventh in the weight throw, and Lauren Esprit and Victoria Chantyasak-White qualified for finals in the 60 meter hurdles. Erin Andrewlevich had the top time in prelims as she and Angie Cherikos qualified for Saturday's finals in the 60 meter dash.
The meet will conclude on Saturday.
