UMW Outdoor Track and Field Hosts Battleground Relays

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams hosted the Battleground Relays this weekend at the track complex, with several top results.

On Friday, freshman Ashley Applegate finished first in the 3000 meter steeplechase, with a time of 12:58.05. The 4x800 meter relay of Ava Robb-McCord, Hannah Huggins, Olivia Story, and Kristy White ran to a first place time of 10:21.39. Erin Andrewlevich was second in the 200 meters at 25.72 seconds, and Sam Gorton took first in the hammer throw at 153 feet, 8.75 inches. Quintasia Horsley was second in the triple jump at 34 feet, 7.75 inches, and Yamina James was second in the pole vault at 10 feet.

On Saturday, the women saw the 1600 sprint medley relay take first with a time of 4:26.11, as did the 4000 meter distance medley relay, at 13:45.63. Bethany Wilson won the high jump at four feet, sveen inches, and Horsley won the long jump at 15 feet, 8.25 inches.

For the men, Friday saw Calhoun Stirling win the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:19.94, Jose Mundo win the 200 meters at 22.19, and Ripken Smith take second in the hammer throw at 149 feet, nine inches and second in the javelin at 147 feet, 7.5 inches. Dylon Garrett won the pole vault at 13 feet, 0.25 inches.

On Saturday, Davon Guerrier won the 400 meter hurdles at 56.88, and Bryce McAlpine took second in the 400 meters as well as the 400 meter hurdles. Daniel Forjan won the discus at 143 feet, 4.25 inches, and was second in the shot put. David Danek won the high jump at six feet, 7.25 inches, while Rajai Walton finished second.

Both teams will be back in action next Saturday at Elon College.
